shortname/nicknames: the Ghost Investigator story
genre/format: Paranormal mystery, novel, definitely not a series I swear
Brief synopsis: A PI looking into a rash of sudden, unexplained deaths finds herself also suddenly dead. This thrusts her into a world of new rules, uncertain friendships, desperation, and determination. What it doesn't do is keep her from looking for the person who killed her, now accompanied by other victims looking to answer the question hanging over their afterlives, an angry half-faded ghost looking for a new purpose, and her partner in life, once she convinces him his power to speak to the dead was never actually his imagination after all.
major characters:
Terri -- MC/POV character. Stubborn, whip-smart, optimistic, and determined, with absolute faith in herself and in people generally. Sometimes has a tendency to run over people while trying to help, but it comes from a well-meaning and deeply empathetic place.
Curtis -- a quiet, curious person who's only grown more unsure and turned more inward as his abilities as a medium grew and he continued to think it was his imagination. not dealing with Terri's death very well.
Viv -- dead and fading for a long time, with a difficult life she barely remembers these days. Terrified and desperate, and slowly uncovering her own determination, care, and ability to believe in somebody, if not in anything bigger than that
